Multiple pregnancies are challenging to monitor as they have their own set of complications. There are three types of twins – DCDA , MCDA and MOMO twins . Depending on type of twin an ultrasound monitoring plan is prepared . Twins and multiple pregnancies have a slightly higher risk of anomalies as well . If one of the twin is abnormal they selective Fetal reduction may also be needed

DCDA twins : require early pregnancy scan , NT scan , anomaly scan and 2-3 growth scans

MCDA and MOMO twins : have a higher risk of complications : require early pregnancy scan , NT scan , from 16 weeks onwards scans at every 2 weeks are required to detect complications, along with an anomaly scan at 20 weeks
